About The Playwright
Playwright William a. Parker believes in the power of the "WORD". D.J. Bruckner, of the New York Times, describes Parker as a "Moralist".
Out of the mouths of babes the truth is uttered.... I believe is how the expression goes. Perhaps it is the newness of Parker's voice that makes it sound so different.
William believes that this is because of his determined effort to tell the truth no matter how painful or costly it may be to himself or others. "The truth has liberating qualities beyond belief.... and the only truth I know is God's word." Therefore, Parker presents his work as a tool for searching the innermost parts of his patrons. While it entertains, it questions, provokes and challenges. The experience is much like that of attending Sunday service.... where the Pastors serves up a delectable sermon on Shackin' up or Fornication. Now, you realize that you are the subject of conversation but somehow.... because it's so funny, you can't help but laugh through the entire sermon.
It's not until you and your old man are taking the drive home that his words begin to bother you. The silence is deafening but his words are ringing in your ears. Yet, his words seek only to heal and bring about change. Parker has an unbridled desire to reach out to others. He hopes that through his plays he can teach and encourage people to overcome all of the negative issues eating away at the fabric of our families and communities.
